About

Families can also use a Daily Assistant service, where students and parents work alongside an experienced administrator to manage the academic journey.
• Ages: 5–18 years old

Tutoring Rocks works with all K–12 students and describes its tutors as more than tutors, calling them academic mentors who use tailored teaching and a personalized approach for each student. Tutors are described as skilled in their area of emphasis, with the necessary knowledge and a genuine passion for their subjects. The program is designed to flex around family needs, allowing students to pivot between in-person meetings and digital meetings over Zoom, and it prefers to meet in local cafés and coffee shops rather than on a campus in a classroom. Tutoring Rocks has hubs in El Dorado Hills, Folsom, Granite Bay, and Nolensville.
The owners of Tutoring Rocks are Chris and Sheeva Koch. For over a decade, Tutoring Rocks has been working alongside families to help each student discover colleges that fit their unique preferences. Its stated mission is to help develop students to become tomorrow’s leaders by helping them grow as scholars and as people.
Tutoring Rocks was named the 2025 Reader's Choice Tutoring Company of the Year in El Dorado Hills and Folsom. The organization states that it prioritizes being a staple fixture in every community it serves, with each location partner expressing a desire to leave a positive imprint in the community, and many personnel were once local students themselves. Leading by example is described as a fundamental way they teach students that participating in the community is equally important to success in the classroom.
Parent testimonials describe Tutoring Rocks as gifted at engaging students, noting that one teen had never asked to skip tutoring in two years, and praising the tutors’ positive energy and enthusiasm. Other parents describe the team as having expertise in all subject areas, tailoring tutoring to the “whole” child and honoring each student’s learning style. Additional feedback from parents describes the Tutoring Rocks family as extremely knowledgeable in their subjects, kindhearted in their demeanor, and naturally generating enthusiasm for studying.
